Happy New Year! And, a most blessed
Christmas Season to each of you. As you know, as of January 1st,
the North American Association of Benedictine Oblate Directors is under
new leadership.

heart-felt THANK YOU to Sr. Antoinette Purcell of Beech Grove, IN, Our
Lady of Grace Monastery, for her exemplary leadership these past several
years. She leaves us with some mighty BIG shoes to fill. I
ask that you please keep the new leadership in your prayers that we may
continue to strengthen the organization.
You will notice that some small modifications
have been made to the NAABOD Website. A new link has been added
to include Previous Newsletters. Also, the NAABOD History
page has been updated to reflect our Biennial Meeting from last summer
at St. Meinrad's Archabbey,
St. Meinrad, IN. Another new link at the bottom of the
list of links is Monasteries with Oblates. This new page
is a map of North America and Mexico and shows the geographic location
of Benedictine Monasteries that have oblate groups. This page was
implemented by Kristen Wisniewski. Thank you, WIZ!
I am currently working to determine the site,
dates, and theme of our 2013 Biennial Meeting.
It is time to renew your NAABOD Membership.

Some news that did not make it into the previous
newsletter:
- Fr.
James Murray, Oblate Director of St. Bede Abbey in Peru, IL passed away
recently. Please hold him, the community, and their oblates in
prayer. Br. Nathaniel Grossman replaces him as Oblate Director.
- 46
of the 67 ballots that were mailed to NAABOD member monasteries were
returned. The ballots asked monasteries to vote on the issue of
extending an invitation to bring two oblates from each member monastery
to our 2013 Biennial Meeting.

checked "I am in favor of NAABOD allowing each Director to invite
two oblates to the 2013 meeting."
- 5 checked "I prefer that
the 2013 NAABOD meeting be for Directors of Oblates only.
- 5 abstained.
